Background
Our client, Esquivel Maderas, had picked us to be their web solution because they have seen the effective results our other client (inmomato.com) has received after we have helped them greatly improved their online presence with a brand new and up-to-date website. Like inmomato, our client was looking to further commercialize its established brand of more than 50 years in Argentina and now also in Uruguay. More importantly, our client wanted to adapt its brand image on all levels of its reach and its positioning in both countries.
When our client first came to us and showed us their original website, it was a basic conventional website created in Flash and with a few sections in HTML. It did not receive good results and was not well positioned because its link structure was considered illegal by the search engines (links in Flash).
Strategy & Objectives
Our very first step was to slightly update its old-school logo but still keeping the classic style of our client. While we tried to maintain the simple and tranquil image of the company, we concentrated on strengthening its website by giving it a first-class professional web design, given that the majority of its clients are of construction companies and architecture studios.
We achieved the look of the website by going through a very meticulous photograph selection process, and by using a sober white background and subtle design details in order to stand out the intensity of the woods; thus, giving it a clean and tidy look so as to demonstrate the quality of the works our client offers. Moreover, in order to give life and a true portrayal of the colors, we have created a golden brown color theme, and from there, we defined the design of the navigation menu by imitating a catalog of carpet colors. Lastly, we wanted to show the beauty and the majestic nature of the wood throughout the site by using images of stunning and strong textural close up of the woods.
As tools and new sections, we have incorporated the ‘Presupuesto’ section (‘Ask for a Quote’) and have it linked to the pages of every available product offered by the company, to the blog where new updates and articles of interest are frequently posted, and to the wood catalog where different types of wood and their uses are listed.
The overall criteria of the site is to have a well and professionally designed website, which is optimized for search engines but at the same time, not sacrificing its usability and navigability.
Basing on the clear objectives of our client, we started to think up a domain name that contains keywords of its business: Wood Flooring (finally pisosenmaderas.com). We also secured its standard domain name (esquivelmaderas.com) and in order to avoid duplicated content on Google, we utilized canonical URL where users will be redirected to the right URL corresponding to their countries: argentina.esquivelmaderas.com and uruguay.esquivelmaderas.com. In this way, if a user enters from esquivelmaderas.com, the domain stays the same even though in reality it is functioning under pisosenmaderas.com. The keywords in the domain name are a huge help in reaching good positioning in search engines.
In terms of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), we optimized all the text, links, images and URLs by utilizing keywords and metadata obtained from SEO research.
The whole site can be managed through our very own content management system (CMS @ Fizzmod), which has all the functions necessary to oversee and control the parameters of SEO, administrators, types of products and woods, images, galleries, general content, emails to contacts organized by countries, provinces and cities, etc., and in such a way that our client has complete independence in managing the information being shown on its site.
Lastly, Google Analytics was installed for the whole website and was configured according to the objective analytic needs of our client as well as the results of its Google Adwords campaigns.
