Background


GreenSewn is a eCommerce business venture in the United States dedicated to sustainable fashion items. These 'eco-fashion' items are geared for women of all ages. The accessories that GreenSewn provides are made from recycled vintage silk saris from India. GreenSewn contributes a portion of it's earnngs to environmental causes, principally deforestation..



Strategy & Objectives


The first project stage consited in creating a brand identity and logotype to reflect the business' environmental interests. Given the 'vintage' characteristics of the products, we paid special attention to the typography and graphic aesthetic to achieve a 'chic-grunge' style. Additionally, we worked on the print graphics, such as hang tags, that accompany the products themselves.


In order to implement the eCommerce portion of GreenSewn's site, we used Magento and PayPal. Magento is a stable, industry leading eCommerce platform. This platform comes with a wide variety of features, but we helped further customize it to achieve a unique and professional result.


The brand identity had to be portrayed though the site, so we designed the section's art by hand. This was a challenge, but in order to achieve an 'earthy,' simple, and 'feminine' site that was both modern and sophisticated we had to work delicately to ensure that all of these elements worked together in harmony.


We implemented a product catalog consisting of: a shopping cart, shop categories/subcategories, and administrable products. For each product detail page, we also designed unique graphics to accompany the descriptive names. As well, we placed much attention on the internal sections of products. We organized the way information in such a way that sharing capabilities such 'as tell a friend,' networks like Facebook, and embedding into blogs would aid with key promotion objectives..


Within this catalog, users also have the ability to purchase gift certificates of different values. Yet, if users want to send store credits to friends, they may do so through different way called, 'Send Good Karma.' This promotion tool is essentially a coupon code that is available once a users 'Sends Good Karma' to others by sending them a message about the website.


Apart from implementing eCommerce capabilities, we also implemented a WordPress blog to work seamlessly with GreenSewn's Magento framework. We worked to ensure that the site's look and feel, included the navigation, would not be lost for the blog. Another feature we added was to modify the blog's comment system in order to ramp up users' social sharing capabilities, which we consider vital for the brand's promotion.


Lastly, we configured the site to have a wholesale pricing section, accessible solely through registration and log in. In order for wholesales to sign up, we created a custom form that is completely dynamic and administrable.


Undoubtedly, the goal to position GreenSewn's site in a highly competitive market such as US fashion is not an easy task so we have taken a multi-angled approach. For our initial SEO work, we configured SEO-friendly URLs, descriptions for each section, page title personalization, and META data optimization. We did this onsite optimization in preparation to support other marketing efforts.
