Background
Improve7 is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting charitable causes wordlwide. The main focus areas that Improve7 seeks to support are: poverty, education, health, and the environment. Improve7 selects chooses to support other organizations that relate to each of these four over-arching causes through the creation of virtual 'Improve7' bangles, which can be describe as digital LiveStrong bracelets, that will be able to be shared in social networks.
To implement Improve7's site, the client selected a Joomla CMS platform. The benefits of open-source platforms such as Joomla include stability, universality, and low-cost, but creating a unique and memorable brand identity can be a challenge due to technological limitations.
Strategy & Objectives
Improve7's new site was created with long-term goals in mind. Improve7's initial goal was to create a site that would give the business a brand identity, explain how the business would function, and to lay the foundation for ambitious plans involving social network sharing.
To begin, we worked on the Improve7 brand identity by creating a logo. For this logo we were conscious to use symbols that encapsulated their goals of global interconnectedness and their 'bangle' concept. We also took this idea a bit further to create graphics (based off of the logo) that represent each cause and to give each cause a distinct identity within a unified brand identity. The goal is that these individual graphics that represent each cause will be used as the virtual bangles that users will share to represent their support of the respective cause.
We added sleek functionality to the site using the MooTools javascript library. The result is a modern, simple, and easy-to-use look and feel with an enhanced user experience. The site also features a blog in the form of a 'press' page to add further functionality apart from traditional pages. As well, we integrated the site with PayPal in order for users make donations securely and easily. Lastly, we integrated Improve7's forms with a service called, WuFoo, which allows for easy website form management.
