THE CHALLENGE
Cencosud is one of the largest and most prestigious retail conglomerates in Latin America. It has active operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Colombia, where it carries out a successful multiformat strategy every day. Nowadays, it employs more than 100,000 employees.
In a time of constant digital transformation, Cencosud faces the challenge of modernizing all its processes, from online purchase to store, warehousing, logistics and customer service operations, maintaining its focus on the users’ experience. All this resulted in an opportunity to implement ingenious solutions for day-to-day problems.
WHAT WE DID
OUR APPROACH
We’ve designed and implemented the new online supermarket store for Chile, Argentina and Colombia on the VTEX eCommerce Cloud Computing. We’ve also integrated the Cataloging, Stock, Pricing and Billing systems of the eCommerce with JANIS©, the most complete backoffice, logistics and Costumer Service management tool in the market, which is 100% connected with VTEX.
A standardised shopping experience has been designed for the three countries of this chain, taking into account the cultural and commercial differences of each region. It integrates the specific requirements of each place and thus, provides the final consumers with a new experience which is naturally adapted to the processes that are already customary to them. Some of the main solutions applied in this project include:
– Replacement of the old solution to the operations on the sales floor by JANIS backoffice (audits, picking, handling, internal and external logistics)
– Application of specific business logics for its operations, such as the logics of excesses and specific substitution criteria.
– Setting up of the Customer Service management system according to the flows applied in the business.
– Implementation of a login system with the Taxpayer ID number, to let those migrated clients from the previous system maintain their access credentials.
– Implementation of a store selection and dispatch method complete flow using GeoRef (georeferencing), which is oriented to let the customers select their dispatch method from the beginning of the purchase.
– Integration with systems of external logistics operators, to follow up dispatches.
